Please reach us at hello@lumiereacupuncture.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.
At the initial consult you will be asked you a number of questions about your current health and health history, including questions about your diet, lifestyle, mental health and any medications or supplements you may be taking. If you have any recent blood tests, please email them through prior to your first visit. A tongue and pulse analysis will then be done to form a complete Chinese medicine diagnosis and personalise your treatment. The treatment may include acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, as well as other techniques such as cupping, gua sha, and E-Stim.
It is best to wear loose fitting clothing, however depending on the acupuncture points used some clothing may need to be removed. Towels and blankets are provided for modesty and warmth. If at any stage you feel uncomfortable please let us know and we will adjust the treatment accordingly. It is also best to avoid eating a heavy meal or consuming alcohol or caffeine before your appointment.
This depends largely on the condition, how your body responds and how long you’ve had the condition.
When people are looking to book an initial consultation with me I generally recommend booking 3 appointments, one week apart. This gives me an idea of how your body is responding to treatment, and we go from there.
The goal is to get relief from the first 3 treatments and adjust treatment frequency from that point. The intended outcome of this is to get on top of the main concern then space the appointments out, eventually moving onto a maintenance phase every 6-8 weeks.
Cosmetic acupuncture treatments are recommended as a course of 6-10 weekly treatments when first starting out, and will depend on your specific goals and age.
If you would like more information specific to your condition feel free to contact me.
